9.
Do we ride as a group?
We do
not ride in a convoy but rather in small groups with each group establishing their
own pace and style of riding. In Tunisia you may ride alone, in small groups,
or decide to ride with the guide.
In Libya however it will be necessary
for us to travel together with our Libyan agent and Tourist police most of the
time.

How much experience is required?
All riding is on tarmac roads.
Experience

Distances
vary from 100 miles to 250 miles while in North Africa. The route is designed

We recommend that you bring
spares such as bulbs, fuses, tube, puncture repair kit etc. A comprehensive kit

What happens if my bike breaks down?
AA or RAC will provide emergency
breakdown and recovery in Europe. It is therefore essential that you obtain the
cover prior to starting the tour.
However there is no similar service
in Tunisia nor Libya at the moment. Wildcat Adventures would endeavour to arrange
recovery of bike and rider (pillion) to the nearest garage for bike repair. If
necessary we would assist in the recovery of bike and rider (pillion) to the ferry
at Tunis. In the unlikely event that these services become necessary the client
would be responsible for all recovery/repair and associated costs incurred including
accommodation, meals, telephone charges, etc.
Please
note if your bike breaks down while we are in Libya and it is not possible to
repair it, your bike will be transported in the pickup vehicle and you will have
to ride out the rest of the time we are in Libya in the vehicle.
...14a.
What if I have a serious accident or become ill?
We
will arrange to have you transferred to a hospital and if necessary repatriated.
Your repatriation insurance (item 24) will be worth its weight in gold at this
time.
...14b.
What happens to the group if the above delay should occur?
No
one is left behind. We deal with such incidents as a group and everyone is expected
to accept this - especially in Libya.
15.
What range should my fuel tank have?
You should be familiar with your
fuel tank range and this should be in the region of 200 miles as a minimum. Each

N.B. It is not necessary to carry additional fuel cans/jerry cans on your
bike.

Euro cash can be exchanged at most hotels we stay at in Tunisia. Libyan currency
can be purchased (using Euro cash) after we have cleared entry customs.
17.
How much money do I bring?
While travelling through France the Euro
will be applicable. A moderate sum to cover lunch, dinner, snacks, and fuel will
be required. Fuel can be purchased on all major credit cards.

the country. Fuel in Tunisia is approx .50p per litre. Fuel is Libya is .10p per

that you have full travel insurance including medical insurance, repatriation,

25.
What bike is suitable for the trip?
Trail, Touring and Sports Bikes
are suitable for use on the tour. Minimum capacity 600cc is recommended.
26.
Will I have access to unleaded fuel?
Yes in Tunisia. Only leaded fuel
is available in Libya. At each morning's briefing we will advise you on the fuel
points to use enroute.
The
BMW technical department advises that BMW catalytic convertors are constructed
using precious heavy metals. They are therefore able to burn off the excessive
lead in the petrol. This will not affect the efficiency or longevity of the system.
Participants riding bikes
other than BMWs should check with the manufacturer to determine if there is a
catalytic convertor in the system to determine if the unit will handle leaded
fuel without effecting the efficiency or longevity of the system. Please note
that most Japanese manufacturers use a combination of ceramic materials which
are adversely affected by leaded fuel.
27.
How many miles will we cover on the trip?
Approximately 3500 miles.
28.
Is this tour suitable for pillions?
Absolutely. All riding is on surfaced
and good quality roads. We have designed our route to allow for rest/café
stops and plenty of photo stops. There are many attractions to see along the way
and we take the time to visit them.

How are women riders perceived?
The same as the male riders. We have
had female riders join us on this tour in the past.
30.
What is the food like?
Tunisian & Libyan food is always cooked
fresh and offers an excellent variety of meat and vegetarian dishes
31.
What are the temperatures likely to be?
You should expect temperatures
to be between 15-35 celcius.
32.
Who will be our guides and what sort of experience do they have?
John & Brigitte (pillion) lead all the tours.
They have travelled to Tunisia and Libya on motorbike numerous times. Both are
full time & experienced guides and John is the managing director of Wildcat
Adventures.
John has led tours in North Africa for over 22 years.
Brigitte
is fluent in French (spoken by all Tunisians and widely spoken in Libya)
33.
How do I get down through France to meet up with the group in Marseille?
We
meet at our hotel in Marseille the night before taking the ferry to Tunisia. Brigitte
and I usually ride down through France in 2 days spending the first night around
Reims and arriving to meet the group in Marseille the second night. The French
